Scott Stewart, Matt SantaMaria, Tom Albers

On behalf of everyone at Albers Communications Group, I would like to congratulate recent University of Nebraska at Omaha graduates Matt SantaMaria and Scott Stewart. Both were recipients of Albers Internship Scholarships – annual awards we proudly sponsor through the University’s School of Communication.

Presented in the fall and spring semesters, the Albers Internship Scholarships recognize the School’s top news interns. We hope the awards will give deserving students an opportunity to make the most of their newsroom training and help them achieve their professional goals.

A broadcast news major, Matt completed his internship with Omaha’s ABC affiliate, KETV. On campus, he served as a primary news anchor for the weekly student-produced newscast, The Omaha News. In addition, he worked as the play-by-play announcer for the Omaha Beef indoor football team and UNO football and basketball broadcasts.

Scott interned at the Bellevue Leader while serving three terms as the editor-in-chief of the campus newspaper, the UNO Gateway. An award-winning writer, he earned top honors from the Nebraska Press Association and the Nebraska Collegiate Media Association. Also an accomplished student, Scott majored in computer science, math and philosophy with minors in mass communication and physics.

We are very proud of Matt and Scott, and hope that our support will, in some small way, help them accomplish their professional goals. We wish them well in all of their future endeavors.
