Five Tips for Social Media Content
The most difficult aspect of being active as a business in the social media space can be churning out original content that is informative, educational and not purely self promotional. There are plenty of sources for valuable social media content; you just have to know where to look.
Here are five sources that may work for you:
- Repackage news releases: If your organization produces news releases on timely topics, these releases could be a source for blog content. You probably don't want to run the news releases verbatim, but you could write about the subjects in your own words.
- Promote events: If your business hosts events, such as workshops or open houses, don't forget to let your audience on Facebook or LinkedIn know about these opportunities. Also, whenever possible, build the RSVP function right into your social media outreach. It will save you a step.
- Link back to newsletter articles: If you produce a traditional newsletter or email newsletter for your customers or prospective customers, go ahead and post the articles to your website. Then you can post links to these stories on your Twitter account or Facebook wall.
- Archive webinars/podcasts: Many businesses hold educational tele-seminars or webinars for prospective clients. Don't forget to use your social media platforms to promote these events, but also post the recordings to your website or blog.
- Capture it on video: Be on the look-out for activities that happen in your business that can be captured on video and shared with your social media followers. For example, if your company participates in a community service activity, such as a home build for Habitat for Humanity, capture the project with a Flip cam.
